Between 1850 and the present day, we’ve lost 49% of ‘Trees outside woods', owing in large part to Dutch elm disease and ash dieback. This garden aims to highlight the efforts being made to address this issue through the Woodland Trust’s UK and Ireland Sourced and Grown (UKISG) scheme, which encourages everyone to plant UK-grown trees. The designer hopes that, through this space, visitors will be encouraged to plant native and UK-grown trees, and diversify the species planted to help enhance resilience against both disease and our changing climate.
